Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday awarded Kuwait’s highest honors ‘The Order of Mubarak Al Kabeer’. Earlier in the day, Modi received a ceremonial welcome and Guard of Honour at the Bayan Palace in Kuwait ahead of his talks with Kuwait’s top leadership.
He arrived in the Gulf nation on Saturday on a two-day trip, the first to the country by an Indian prime minister in 43 years. He is visiting Kuwait at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The last Indian prime minister to visit Kuwait was Indira Gandhi in 1981.
