8. India-Malaysia Joint Military Exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI Commence

  • The 4th edition of the joint military exercise HARIMAU SHAKTI began on December 2, 2024, at Bentong Camp, Malaysia
  • The Indian contingent consists of 78 personnel from the MAHAR Regiment, and the Malaysian contingent includes 123 personnel from The Royal Malaysian Regiment.

10.New Pamban Bridge: India’s First Vertical-Lift Railway Sea Bridge

  • Vertical Lift: Allows boats to pass by lifting vertically, unlike the old horizontal lift.
  • Connects Rameswaram on Pamban Island to Mandapam on mainland Tamil Nadu.
  • Total Length: 2.078 km
  • 99 spans with 18.3-meter girders; 63-meter navigational span.
  • Replaces the iconic 1914 Pamban Bridge.
